Jackfruit anyone? This tropical fruit stand is near our home, and it’s lots of fun to go and look around at all the exotic fruits. If you visit us, this fruit stand is a must-stop.
Tip of the Week
Sometimes I get stuck on how to get started with my writing. I know what I want to write. I know what I want to say. But I just don’t know how to begin. Or, I’m just afraid or overwhelmed to start writing.
If you have felt any of the above, try the following “creative” ways to help you get started with your academic writing:
Write an email to yourself about the topic you need to write about.
Pretend to write an email to someone else about the topic you need to write about (i.e., actually write it but don’t send it). Writing to an audience can be helpful.
Text yourself about your topic.
Use a calendar to write (and visually see) which pieces of your writing project you will work on each week.
Write an electronic note to yourself about what you are writing.
Write a blog post about what you need to say (but don’t publish it, unless you want to).
Free-write in a journal without worrying about who will read what you wrote. Just start writing.
In Closing…
What about you? Do you have any creative ways to help you get started with your academic writing?
I’d love to know! If you are able, please leave a comment. If not, please email me at inforealacademics@gmail.com
